Australian War Memorial Albatros D.Va

Australian War Memorial is located in Canberra, Australian Capitol Territory, Australia. The AWM Albatros was brought to Australia as a war trophy. The aircraft being recovered from the front lines after it along with other Albatros Scouts had engaged the RE8 of Sandy and Hughes of 3 Sqn Australian Flying Corps. Sandy and Hughes managed to shoot down the Albatros before both being killed by a solitary bullet. Their RE8 was to fly in wide circles over the front before running out of petrol and landing fairly gently far behind entente lines, earning the legend the Ghost RE8.
