Albatros D.V Build-Up
Eduard 1/72
By: Marc Flake
Albatros D-V, flown by Lieutenant Otto Konnecke.
Here's my submission for the cook-up. I modelled Lt. Otto Konnecke's bright green Jasta 5 ship. I used the 1/72nd Eduard D Va kit almost totally OOB. The only changes were the Superscale decals and some strip styrene cut to represent aerlion actuators as I modeled a D V instead of the D Va. Superscale contributed the checkerboard personal insignia and provided one reference for the color scheme. The other reference was Brian Knight's painting on the Albatros Special.
The rigging was done with .005 steel wire from www.smallparts.com. The fuselage and tail were painted using Xtracolor's Willow Green. The red stripe around the empennage was painted in Modelmaster Italian Red. Polyscales's Muave and Foker Dark Green provided the top surface wing colors, while Polyscale's RLM 64 Light Blue covered the undersurfaces.
