I made the Emhar Mark IV "Male" several years ago,
before joining the wwi list. I remember it being a rather simple build
with the most challenging part being my attempts to figure out how the
rails attached to the top of the model. This was ultimately accomplished
through trial and error, as there is only one way to put the rails together
so that they fit properly. I did not use the kit's tracks, but used
an aftermarket set of resin tracks. I can't remember the manufacturer,
but I do remember that the tracks cost about $10 more than the kit.
The tracks came in singles and molded in groups. The singles were used
to make the curves. Although you can see gaps in the tracks, it doesn't
matter. I've seen photos of the prototypes where the gaps were worse.
I painted it in overall olive drab with the tracks painted Humbrol "Track
Color" and highlighted with Testors "Steel."
